Indea Vaher
My first exhibition was here at The Bluffs and ever since I’ve had a soft spot for the comfortable atmosphere. I find myself coming back again and again. This month they are hosting Indea Vaher. The art is set on a path in the woods, when you see the lodge you are getting close to the entrance. There are snacks in the lodge in case you are pixel hungry.

THE EXHIBIT: THE WOMEN OF ST. ISABELLA ISLAND
The art in this exhibit profiles the women of the fictional St. Isabella Island (inspired by its RL counterpart a barrier Sea Island, located off the coast of the USA); because of its proximity St. Isabella Island has been preserved from assimilation for over a hundred years. The islanders speak with a distinct Creole blend of Elizabethan English and African languages, which was born of necessity on Africa’s Slave Coast. Customs preserved from the past are prevalent as the natives of St. Isabella carry on life as if time has stood still. In this beautiful island paradise the FREE strong and independent women of color practice midwifery, and medicine. They sew sweetgrass baskets and create beautiful quilts. They seed and harvest next to the men in their world, and act as both priestess and teacher.
